![]() *I will add the caveat that the waiter’s story has never been corroborated, but I’m inclined to believe he had access to the kitchen and was telling the truth. Interestingly enough, I was told by the waiter at Jackson’s is that this IS actually a bread pudding, created from the leftover (and super addictive) “donuts” that are included in the bread basket.* This is the reason the texture is much smoother and sweeter than a typical bread pudding. Overall, I find the texture to be much less complex and therefore less enjoyable than that of a real bread pudding. The main reason (among many) that this dish irks me is that it is really more of a cake than a bread pudding, so I did a little research to find out its origins. ![]() HOWEVER, YOU WOULD BE WRONG. I think this dish has been the subject of a solid 80% of my bread pudding rants in the past couple years. Given my propensity to order this particular bread pudding, you would think I don’t have serious concerns about the quality. If you are reading this, there is a good chance that a.) I have forced you to come to Jackson’s with me at some point, and b.) I have ordered this while at Jackson’s with you.
